DOG BOOTS

BASIC CONSTRUCTION

Dogboots that are washable and reusableFor the main body of the boot, we selected a waterproof breathable fabric made of tough textured nylon and polyurethane, also used in the manufacture of jackets for a European police force. The fabric will retain its waterproof qualities even after abrasion and is very durable. We reduced the number of connective seams to a minimum, so as to limit potential stress points in the boot.

For the sole and toe cap we chose hide. Not just any old piece of leather, but carefully dressed cow hide which means that it is supple yet strong. To prevent wear from the front claws of the dog's paws we incorporated a hide toe-cap, which has the additional benefit of ensuring the boot stays correctly in position, without twisting round, on the dog's foot.

Pro-Active Paws boots are washable and re-useable and are fitted according to the width of the dog's foot. They are adjustable to your individual dog's height of leg so that a completely comfortable fit can easily be attained.

TYPES OF BOOT

Regular Boots

Providing excellent protection for all types of ground and injury.

Useful for such problems as hot pavements, snow causing ice balls, sharp flinty ground or broken glass, bruised pads, allergies.

Dogs can work and play in our boots.
 
Custom Made Double-Sided Boots

These boots are made with the leather 'sole' pad on the top and bottom of the boot to provide extra protection. The leather pad can be extended to suit the individual dog and boots are made to measure.

Used for dogs which drag their paws, or work or play in conditions where cuts occur to the top of the foot. A similar design is also used for dogs who have missing paws or toes.

A similar style is used for dogs that swim a lot, since such dogs often wear the top of the paws on the sides of swimming pools

Dragging paws can be caused by a number of conditions including::

CDRM (common in herding breeds)
Spondylitis (treatable with antibiotics)
Tumours
Trauma

It is important to make sure that you have the correct diagnosis.

Our boots do not cure any of these conditions, but prevent damage to the paws from dragging.
 
Waterproof Boots

On all our boot designs we can add a special waterproof tape to seal the seams

Especially useful where dressings or paws need to be kept dry.

(For dogs that work or play in water we recommend that seam tape is not used since water that enters over the top of the boot will be retained in the boot - impeding progress!)

Boots are slightly stiffer when seam tape is used and owners of very small or very short-coated dogs are advised to consider whether it is needed for their dog.

SLED DOG TRAIL BOOTS

Entirely made from washable durable leather

Tests show they last 5-10 times as long as other sled dog boots
